Looking for something different to do in London? Well we were. So last week we went to the Rooftop Film Club. It’s on the top floor roof of a pub called the Queen of Hoxton just a short walk from Liverpool Street/Old Street area.
After walking up all the stairs to the top, you can get a drink from the bar or have some food from the BBQ grill (we went for a grilled jerk chicken burger.. decent but not amazing)
Then eventually they will let you in to grab a seat for your viewing. Quite a cool system, as each seat comes with wireless headphones, so you don’t disturb all the local neighbours and you can play the movie as loud or soft as you like. If your lucky enough as well you might even be able to get a blanket as well.
Remember this is London so dress warm if you get tickets and go along, as it does get cold up there once the sun goes down.. Also they don’t normally cancel any of the screenings unless it’s a hurricane, so come prepared to get potentially rained on as well.. depending on how lucky or unlucky you are.
We went to see “An American Werewolf In London”, first time we’ve actually seen this classic. Quite cool to experience on a London rooftop and thankfully there was no rain that night!
If you want to get tickets, then check out the website regularly, they normally release a month of tickets/shows in advance and they often sell out pretty quickly when they go on sale. Especially if it’s a popular movie/classic.
